Mix of songs and styles

Hello everyone

We enjoyed another excellent evening of entertainment last night with the usual mix of songs and styles from our regulars. It was also great to welcome a number of new members. We were charmed by the beautiful singing of Alice and treated to an excellent spot by Roger. Other highlights were Mick’s tribute to folk ballads (how does he come up with this stuff?!), the unaccompanied voice of the excellent Barry and the gorgeous sound of a very accomplished spot from Simeon. Not forgetting our other debutant Simon who did a great job in his first stint as MC and clearly enjoyed it!

For once the great tea towel raffle prize was upstaged by a donation of a CD with 20 Irish Drinking Songs. Nigel has promised to learn them all for next time so can we all practice our drinking in preparation!!

Next club is in two weeks time on 1st April. This is both April fools day and Mournday Thursday so finding some appropriate songs could be quite a challenge!

On 22nd April we welcome our first guests to the club. Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts are a bit special and should provide a great evening. Check out their web site by following the link below via our club website. As I mentioned last time, we have a few quid in the bank due to attendances being much higher than we originally expected so the usual £2 admission will apply to all members. However, if everyone turns up we will have more than 100 people and that will exceed our capacity so would you please buy or reserve your tickets in advance. Tickets will be available for sale on 1st April at the club. Alternatively, you can reserve tickets by email to me and pay for them on the night. Any unreserved tickets will be available on the door at £5.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me for swimathon. It looks as though I am really going to have to do it now!!

Cheers
Paul
