Carrick shine on another great night

Performer’s Night featuring Carrick – 17th August 2012

What a fabulous evening we had once again at our latest meeting. A very warm and humid evening and a big crowd had us all gasping for air at times but the excellent entertainment, great atmosphere and fine company left us all feeling very good.

The first half featured spots from Simeon, Simon, Tommy and Dianne. It was great to see Tarmac performing again after such a long absence and John entertained us with a great song about Alison and her dog (you had to be there!).

Carrick are Caroline and Ric and they combine two great voices, guitar, flute, cajon, bodhran and mandocello to perform a wide range of lovely songs and produce a great sound. This was a great performance with Reunion Hill perhaps the highlight although Keys to Canterbury was very close! Ric has promised to put details of their up-coming gigs on our web site so look out for that.

We were quite spoilt because following the excellent Carrick we had a fine performance from David who was making his first appearance at the club. Two lovely solo songs and an excellent song as a trio were a real treat.

Our traditional end to the evening was duly delivered by Barry and Ed who finished us off in fine style and had everyone singing.

The raffle included a sentimental return to the Great Tea Towels of the World prize and it was somehow fitting that Ed took the Welsh language home. Look out for a new featured raffle prize coming next time. I’m very excited about it!!

Our next meeting is on 7th September. There may be a late change to the programme for September so check the web site for news.
