Tom Kitching and Gren Bartley

We were richly entertained by the excellent Tom and Gren at our last meeting. How good it is to be able to bring such quality performers to Shirley!

Tom’s fine fiddle playing was the perfect accompaniment to Gren’s flowing finger style guitar and rich vocals. Self penned and traditional songs along with a couple of tunes gave us great variety ranging from songs that capture the hearts of the audience to quirky passages that brought a smile to everyone’s face.

If you want to see them again or you missed them last night they will be at the Red Lion folk club in Kings Heath on 4th May supporting the utterly brilliant Nancy Kerr and James Fagan.

The raffle continues to provide tension, apprehension and great excitement! Birthday boy Mark triumphantly claimed the Sudoku toilet roll and so his special day was made complete! Happy birthday Mark!

Our next guest night is on 6th May when we will host Isambarde, a very lively and engaging trio. Make sure that date is in your diary!

Before then we have performer’s nights on our new slots on the first and third Friday of every month. The only exception is our very next meeting which will be on Thursday 10th March. This is a performer’s night with a feature spot from our very own Ric James who has recently been making regular appearances in London clubs no less!
