Election night!

Hello everyone

Well election night is over and amidst all the uncertainty one thing we know is that we enjoyed yet another great night at the Shirley Red Lion Folk Club.  It was good to see Ric and Tarmac taking centre stage with very accomplished performances and I particularly enjoyed the duet between Geoff and Simon whilst Alice left us all checking “the regulations”!

But the highlight had to be Geoff introducing his song about watering the working man’s beer and referring to Joe, only to be stopped in his tracks by Joe who was listening from the back of the room! Great timing Geoff and nice one Joe! Geoff’s perfect night was completed when he bagged the Great Tea Towel of the World – a particularly fine example from the Lake District.

A big welcome also to first timers Joyce, John, Dave and Wendy, and Meriel and Brian.

Next club is on 20th May when Ric will be your MC.  Sadly, Sue and I will miss this one as we will be walking in North Norfolk but I’ll try to find some seals on a beach to sing to on Thursday night instead of being at the club.

Don’t forget Deborah Hodgson (she is actually performing as a duo) on 3rd June. Tickets will be on sale at the club on 20th May, but thanks to everyone who has bought tickets.  Follow the link on the Guests page, and you can link to Deborah’s web site where you can have a listen to some of her music. She is a great singer and will provide excellent entertainment on what will be our second guest night.

Incidentally, we now have a mention and a photo in Katriona and Jamie’s tour blog on their MySpace which, again, can be viewed via the Gilmore-Roberts Guest Night page.

Have a great weekend and keep singing.

Cheers
Paul
