Wednesday 7th of January- Dave Harris,Mike Green,Phil Watkins.

There is probably no better way to start off our spring season than with the joyous, foot tapping music provided some of the best of our local musicians. Featuring Dave Harris on guitar and bouzouki ,Mike Green mandolin and Phil Watkins guitar and vocals, expect an evening full of super songs and music.

Wednesday 21st of January-60’s and 70’s Acoustic Theme Night

We hold these theme nights twice a year, when we turn the whole evening over to floor singers performing some of their favourite songs from the 60’s and 70’s. It’s always fabulous and nothing else to say really.

Wednesday 4th of February – Eoin Edwards

We are truly delighted to be welcoming the brilliant singer songwriter Eoin Edwards to the club for the very first time. Eoin is a fabulous guitarist who also writes just really good songs and this will be, once again, a wonderful night of live and original music in Shirley.

Wednesday 18th of February – Thorpe and Morrison.

Harry Thorpe and Sean Morrison are an amazing guitar and fiddle duo with an anglo-scottish heritage, who over the last few years, have taken the folk world by storm.

‘Thorpe & Morrison are rapidly ascending – one of the finest young folk and roots duos out there. Incredibly entertaining, energetic, and brimming with musicianship.’- Global Traditions

We are so delighted that they have agreed to come and perform an extended second half set for us and here is just what we have to look forward to.

Great friend of Shirley Folk Club for many years, in a nutshell, Mickey Sargent brings wonderful songs and then sings them beautifully. So expect an evening of poignant lyrics and beautiful melodies, with plenty of opportunities to sing-a-long.

Nick Evans quite simply is a wonderful singer and guitarist who never fails to delight us with his selection of songs, together with a masterclass in guitar accompaniment. Expect Nicks set to include classics from the likes of Paul Simon, ,Ralph McTell, Dougie MacLean and maybe even the Beatles.

Wednesday 1st of AprilDominic O’Sullivan and Friends

Dominic O’Sullivan needs no introduction to members of Shirley Folk Club.He is the phenomenal whistle player with our great friends Juniper and also makes regular appearances with the folk trio,O’Sullivan, Hammond and Roberts.

Dominic has a new traditional music project underway where he is accompanied by some of his musician friends and we are truly delighted that he has agreed to come and perform some of his new material for us.

Following the wonderful set that they performed last year, we just had to ask Dave (mandolin, guitar,bouzouki) Graham(vocals,guitar fiddle) and Jake (concertina)to come back and play their joyful traditional songs and music for us again.

Wednesday 6th of May – Amit Dattani,featuring Steph Sanders.

Great friend of the club for many years ,we are truly honoured to welcome back internationally renowned singer,songwriter and guitarist Amit Dattani, accompanied this time by the wonderful percussionist, Steph Sanders.

Amit launched his latest album, Wrong Kind of One, to a packed out audience at the Kitchen Garden Cafe last September and this is an opportunity to hear songs from this wonderful album played by two truly outstanding musicians.

Steve and Chris are great friends of Shirley Folk Club and have been delighting us with their wonderful music for many years. Expect a set of super up beat songs, with truly exceptional guitar , mandolin and bouzouki accompaniment.

Wednesday 3rd of June-Kings Heathens

We are delighted to welcome to the club for the very first time, Kings Heathens.

Featuring David Fisher and Evan C Ritchie, this super acoustic duo, perform Celtic and transatlantic folk songs,shanties and ballads. So expect rousing choruses,close harmonies,super guitar,banjo,harmonica and you name it accompaniment.

Wednesday 17th of June -Crossroads

Crossroads made their debut performance at Shirley Folk Club by opening for Juniper at their superb Christmas Concert in December. They feature five students from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, who play Celtic and other traditional music quite wonderfully.

Wednesday 1st of July- Robert Barnett

Robert Barnett is a brilliant finger style guitarist ,singer and songwriter. He first came to our attention a couple of years ago when he could be seen accompanying american internet guitar sensation, Josh Turner, on his tour of the UK.

Robert made his debut performance at Shirley Folk Club last year and thrilled us with his musical virtuosity ,so we just had to get him back again.

There is no better person to finish our summer season than with the wonderful Emma Langford.

Friend of the club for many years,Emma will bring with her a wonderful set of songs and perform them with her usual bucket loads of warmth,humour and personality.
