Ray’s chat 63

H

It’s RAYS CHAT Sixty Three:

Hi Folk:  So Here We are in May.  Gardeners Month.

So Let’s start with a  Gardener’s Song.. And here is one I had Never Heard Before:   Put in:

John Denver – The Garden Song 2.40

In: RAYS CHAT SIXTY ONE.   I chatted about FAIRPORT CONVENTION. And I am remembering their Great Lady Singer Sandy Denny.  Her death in 1979 robbed us of one of the finest voices there has  been in the Folk World – She died just age 31.

I have just GOT to have probably one of her greatest ever songs. Put in:

Fairport Convention- Who Knows Where the Time Goes with Sandy Denny) 5.10

Wow!!  That just is such a wonderful recording.

And did you know Sandy wrote that song herself.

And lets have a final song from her.  Put in:

Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention – Farewell Farewell (promo Video) 2.40

This has some great pictures of Fairport.. with Davy Swarbrick.

Oh I remember Dave.  When He was with The Ian Campbell Group.  (Great days).

And a strange thing happened…

After Sandy finished singing.. Farewell Farewell.

the Computer played this:  Put in:

Joan Baez – Diamonds and Rust (with Lyrics) 4.46

One Great voice following another.

And this recording is with Bob Dylan.

Do you know over 10 million people have listened to this song on You Tube.

Well I think We need a change of mood right now.

So How would you like a Love Story?  See how you like this.. Completely new to me..

And YOU have just got to watch the video.

And you must be careful there are a number of choices..

Choose the one with the Lady in White with the White Rose:

Put in:

Guadalope Pinebar – Historia De Un Amore 3.21

Ladies! Did you like that?

And you need a Big Song to follow that: Put in

Michael Bolton –How Am I Supposed To Live without You 4.12:  WOW!!  What a song!!

What’s That!!  You don’t think That’s Folk!!

Well it ought to be it is a damn good song.

Great Song: Great Singer This was from his first album 1970.

Another Blast from the past: Put in,

Hear The Wind Blow. Flatt & Scruggs 3.09

And here is another Wind Song for you

KANSAS –  Dust in the Wind – Official Video 3.19

Yes it is maybe more Country than Folk. But I liked it, nice to listen to.  What Did You think?

There is just ONE Wind Song that I just got to have.

I think It is one of the GREATEST Folk Songs EVER.  Yes You Know it. Ian Tysons song  FOUR STRONG WINDS.   But I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DECIDE JUST who SINGS IT THE best??

There are 4 versions that whenever I hear I think

THAT’S THE BEST.

So: Here are the Four I absolutely think are BEST..  But there are SO Many OTHERS to listen to… ENJOY!!  I have listened to SO Many.. and still can’t make up My Mind

Now YOU choose. Which of these 4 Do YOUlike BEST?

Ian Tyson  Four Strong Winds 3.56

Neil Young  Four Strong Winds 4.03

Ian & Sylvia – Four Strong Winds 3.30

Four Strong Winds – John Denver 4.23

Happy Listening:  And I wonder if you, like me, will think THEY are ALL THE BEST.

So: That’s your lot for this time:  This has been a bit of a trip down Memory Lane… And a few newer Songs.

And now it’s the end of another Rays Chat.

Nice Chatting to you,

                                 RAY
