Another Hot Night at the Shirley Red Lion

Friday was a really varied and entertaining night. Geoff kicked off his night as MC with Ernie, Russell and Dave gave us harmonies and a great cover of Rikki Don’t Lose That Number, Ray, Finbar, Marten and Ray all gave us poetry, Barry and Ed sung us some great songs (we are still waiting for the country songs though), Simon 2, Simon B(3), Tom performing solo and with Simeon and Simeon himself rounding off the night with two beautifully sung songs.

Then we had the groups, Sam/Louise/Dave gave us great tone and self penned songs, Where’s Mary a lusty sing’a’long and the Robinson Stone Brothers took us back in time. You can check them out at http://therobinsonstonebrothers.com/.

Then there was Spruce. A long time since we saw him sing at the club but he was back in style with a couple of classics from the River, an album from another time of hardship and austerity, still as relevant today.

Thanks to everyone for playing and listening and for making it a great night. The next club is on the 19th of July and Russell and Dave will be giving us a half hour feature. The rest of the night will be Performer’s slots. Please note that Kim Lowings has now moved to September 6th.

The winner of the Charity vote was SOLO who do great work providing social and life opportunities for young people with learning difficulties. It’s great to be helping out a local charity who really make a difference to life in our area.
