Another fine event

Performer’s Night – 19th October

We enjoyed yet another excellent evening’s entertainment at our meeting on 19th October.

The evening was kicked off with solo spots from Paul and Laura along with a very enjoyable “Hawaiian Themed” spot from the Tuesday Club complete with dual ukuleles and Hawaiian shirts. Finbar left us all smiling once again and then we were treated to a lovely performance by Carol and Maria on their first visit to the club. Nigel from Tamworth quickly followed and the first half was finished off by Simon in his usual accomplished style.

Raffle highlights included John’s first ever success in a raffle for (did he really say 50 years?) and a Crittenden’s Croc with a split personality (Morrocco/Disney) proudly claimed by Richard (although Nigel was heard to remark that it was rather nice!).

The second half kicked off with unaccompanied singing from Simeon and then Diane, two of the very best voices around. During a welcome second helping of Carol and Maria followed by Nigel, Sam was spotted lurking at the back of the room and he was quickly persuaded to retrieve his guitar from his car!

The much anticipated arrival of Andy the piper had still not materialised so Barry and Ed went on with instructions to keep going for as long as necessary! A sterling job they did too until we decided that Andy was not going to make it so an impromptu performance of the divine males (Barry, Ed, Paul and the long awaited debut performance of Ray) ended the evening in great style. It turns out that Andy had gone to the Red Lion in Kings Heath only to discover that they meet on Wednesdays. Oh well!

Our next meeting is on 2nd November when we will welcome the Ann Duggan Trio in concert. Ann will be supported by blues aces Tony Stokes and Peter Gates. The last few tickets are available at £3 in advance but email quickly if you want one as the concert is almost sold out.
