Performers Night – October 7th

Good morning

Well, I went to bed last night looking forward to the promised sunny Sunday but I must confess, when I looked out to see that we are still stuck in yesterday’s murk, I rolled over and had another few minutes in bed!!

Our latest meeting was on Thursday where we were treated to another dose of fine music and good company.

In between a quiet, gentle start and a loud, raucous finish we heard lots of the regulars along with a couple of debut performers. A warm welcome to Alan and his trademark DADGAD finger picking style (just showing off my techie knowledge!!!) and a big well done to Dave who delivered his very first performance. It takes a lot of courage to get up for the first time and not only did Dave pull it off in fine style, he also sung his own composition. I can exclusively reveal that Dave is already working on his next project!

Julian is now a seasoned performer and he put on a fine MCing performance including maintaining standards in the club raffle. Dianne was first out of the hat but it was Macrina who celebrated her first visit to the club with the big win and took La Pasta home – possibly the largest tea towel that has ever been made! Not to be outdone, Julian managed to win Linda’s “country package” (if you weren’t there I’ll leave this to your imagination) and Linda herself went home with The Peatbog Faeries (are your ears ringing yet Linda?).

Next club is on 21st October when Simon will be starring in our very first feature spot. Feature spots give a chance for some of our regular performers to do a longer spot than usual and show off their range of music. There will be plenty of time for the usual two song spots too so come along and enjoy the evening.
